Deion Sanders calls on Colorado collectives to help land top talent: ‘Some kids cost’

Deion Sanders called on Colorado’s collectives to help land top players

The Colorado Buffaloes will be a prominent program in the transfer portal and via the recruiting front once again this offseason.

However, they have also suffered a few decommitments as of late, including one from class of 2025 quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. on Sunday.

Still, players want to come to Boulder to play for Coach Prime. After Colorado’s season finale on Saturday, Sanders was asked about the recruiting resources his program has from a financial standpoint. Coach Prime had plenty to say (h/t Brian Howell of BuffZone):

“We’re getting there,” Sanders said. “We definitely need giving. You know what I mean? It’s unfortunate to say this, but some kids cost. It’s unfortunate to say this and I have not charted this yet, but I’m gonna ask for the numbers.

“If you start thinking about the top several teams in the country, let’s see what was spent on assembling the teams. We can sit and talk about great coaching and great this and great that all we want. But it’s a credit card swipe some kind of way with all these guys going into the playoffs, right? I understand that.”

These are very candid comments from Coach Prime, but he’s right. The best players usually cost money to land. If the Buffs want to attract some of the top players in the game, it will definitely cost them.
