Deebo Samuel sets a Super Bowl rushing record

Deebo Samuel’s stellar rookie year continued in the playoffs.

49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel hasn’t let the bright lights of the Super Bowl slow down his stellar rookie season.

Samuel had a 14-yard run on the 49ers’ first drive of the second half that put him at 53 rushing yards for the game. That is a new record for rushing yards by a wide receiver in a Super Bowl. He broke the record of 45 set by Percy Harvin in Super Bowl XLVIII.

The run game has been a huge piece of Samuel’s productivity during his first season. He rushed 14 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. He’s up to 145 yards on six carries in the postseason.
