Former Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins turned 30 years old in June, and even as he has aged, he is still one of the NFL’s top players.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin recently compiled a list of the top players at the age of 30 and over, and Hopkins came in at No. 22.
Here’s Benajmin’s reasoning for the ranking.
He’s got an asterisk, coming off an injury-riddled 2021 and anticipating a six-game suspension, but his resume speaks for itself. When he’s been active and healthy, he’s been one of the toughest, most reliable possession targets in the league.
Hopkins only appeared in 10 games last season, as he was battling a hamstring injury and a knee injury. Even with his struggles to stay on the field, Hopkins still had 42 receptions for 572 yards and eight touchdowns.
While the former Tiger had a down year last season, he has recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in six of his nine seasons as a pro.
As Benjamin points out, if Hopkins stays healthy, he is still one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers.
