D.C. rapper and Commanders’ superfan Wale to perform at halftime of Sunday’s home opener

Wale will perform at halftime of Sunday’s home opener.

It’s difficult to find a bigger celebrity fan of the Washington Commanders than NBA superstar Kevin Durant. There is also actor Matthew McConaughey and NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. Another famous Washington fan is D.C. native Wale.

The famous rapper was born in Washington, D.C., but moved to Montgomery County, Maryland during his youth. Throughout that time, Wale always supported his hometown team, the then-Washington Redskins.

While the name may have changed—a couple of times—Wale’s fandom has never wavered. He often visits training camp or attends home games and always supports the Commanders on his social media accounts.

The Commanders will host the New York Giants during their home opener on Sunday, and Wale will perform at halftime.

The Commanders lost their season opener at Tampa Bay, but rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels played well enough to earn the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Week honors.
