Patrick Graham isn’t going anywhere.
The Giants defensive coordinator has signed an extension with Big Blue and will not pursue any head-coaching jobs in 2021, according to multiple reports. The Jets, after firing Adam Gase, had requested an interview with their roommate’s coach prior to the extension.
The Giants ranked 12th in total yards per game (349.3), 10th in rushing yards per game (111.4) and ninth in points per game (22.3) in 2020 under Graham’s tutelage. The defense forced 22 total takeaways with 11 interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries. Former Jet Leonard Williams enjoyed a career year, registering 11.5 sacks. James Bradberry also emerged as one of the better corners in the game.
Graham, 41, played at Yale before becoming a graduate assistant at Wagner. From there, he spent time with Richmond, Notre Dame and Toledo at the college ranks and the Patriots, Packers, Dolphins and Giants at the pro level.
Expect his name to come up in head-coaching searches down the road. Just not this year.
