David Hicks Jr. continues to bring in the accolades post graduation

David Hicks is named to the THSCA 6A Boys Track & Field Super Elite Team.

Jimbo Fisher loves multi-sport athletes like Bryce Foster and Devon Achane. Texas A&M freshman David Hicks Jr. is in the same mold after having a dominant Senior campaign from the throwers’ circle.

His talent on the football field is undeniable, and the same could be said for his throwing skills as earlier this year, Hicks had a massive throw for a national record of 202′-2″. That carried over to his District 19-6A meet, where he took home the gold in the discus and shot put, earning a spot to compete in the State championships.

Even though he fell a few feet short of taking the gold, he still had a strong throw of 182′-6″, which was good enough to place third in the state. The Paetow High School Male Athlete of the Year had a good finish to track season, earning him a spot on the THSCA 6A Boys Track & Field Super Elite Team.

Below is what the is the criteria for being eligible for consideration and what THSCA super teams are all about:

CRITERIA:

Be of good moral character. Varsity sports only. Have been a team member in good standing at the time of nomination. Player has excelled as an elite member in their respective sport.

What are the Super Elite Teams?

The THSCA Super Elite Teams consists of high school players nominated by current professional members of the Texas High School Coaches Association. The player must meet the THSCA award criteria to be nominated. The award recognizes student-athletes across the state of Texas for their exemplary athletic achievement in their respective sport.

Each nomination will go to the S.E.T. (Super Elite Teams) Committee to determine the finalists who have made the Super Elite team in each classification. Super Elite teams will be honored after the state championships have been announced. This award will begin in the Fall 2022-23 school year.

Congrats to David Hicks Jr. for adding another notch to the belt, and we look forward to watching him excel in Aggieland!
