David Feldman considers Mike Perry the quintessential BKFC fighter, looks forward to next bout

“If I could take one of the fighters and say, ‘You’re a BKFC fighter,’ it would be Mike Perry.”

[autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] is exactly what David Feldman looks for in a Bare Knuckle FC fighter.

Perry signed with BKFC last October and made his successful promotional debut against Julian Lane in the co-main event of BKFC: KnuckleMania 2 in February. Perry won the bloody bout by unanimous decision and landed an early knockdown in Round 1.

Feldman was impressed with Perry’s performance, and the BKFC boss is expecting an even better showing from him in his next bout.

“I thought he did really well,” Feldman told MMA Junkie. “He dropped Julian Lane. I thought he found himself by the end of the fight. Just by talking to him, he knows what he needs to work on for his next one, so I expect a very much improved Mike Perry for his next one. But I thought he had a great debut. He fought a tough, tough competitor in his first who’d been in there with everyone in BKFC so far.

“So I think hat’s off to Mike Perry, and how I described him prior to the fight is exactly how I’ll describe him after the fight. If I could take one of the fighters and say, ‘You’re a BKFC fighter,’ it would be Mike Perry because he walked right to you, he banged, he did everything he was supposed to do, took punches, and kept coming back. So hat’s off to him.”

Following his win over Lane, Perry called out middleweight champion and fellow ex-UFC fighter Thiago Alves, who was open to the idea. Feldman said Perry is an option for Alves’ next title defense, but also has other fighters in mind.

“It could be Mike Perry,” Feldman said. “Mike Richman just became the No. 1 contender – could be that. Could be some other names, as well. We’ve got a lot of balls we’re juggling right now trying to pull them down and make sense of everything so the fans get everything they’re supposed to get.”
