Dante Fowler explains why he chose the Falcons in free agency

The Atlanta Falcons desperately needed to upgrade their pass rush after finishing with just 28 sacks in 2019, and did so by signing free-agent defensive end Dante Fowler.

He replaces Vic Beasley — the team’s sack leader last season — who signed with the Tennessee Titans during the offseason. Fowler, 26, is coming off of a career-high 11.5 sacks with the Rams. The Falcons inked the former No. 3 overall pick to a three-year, $45 million contract back in March.

The move reunites Fowler with head coach Dan Quinn, who recruited and coached Fowler at the University of Florida. Clearly, the two developed a mutual respect for each other during their time together in Gainesville.

Fowler joined NFL Network’s Good Morning Football program to talk about his offseason decision to sign in Atlanta. Watch the video segment below, as shared by GMFB’s Twitter account.
