Danny Kanell doesn’t have Notre Dame football as one of his top teams

This was a big miss by Kanell

As we all saw on Sunday, Notre Dame football has reentered the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Poll’s top-10.

While those rankings are fairly close to what we should see from most analysts, [autotag]Danny Kanell[/autotag], the former Florida State quarterback doesn’t think so. The current CBS Sports analyst named his top-12, with the Irish nowhere in sight.

What’s interesting about his rankings is that he claims that he “ignores brand bias” and has a team ranked over Notre Dame that they beat, Texas A&M. It’s hard to really take this seriously, as Kanell also has Pittsburgh and Iowa State over teams like Ohio State and Texas.

The Irish have turned things around after its loss to Northern Illinois, reeling off 6-straight wins, with its most impressive coming this past weekend when they rolled Navy to a tune of 51-14.

Kanell clearly missed an opportunity to place Notre Dame in the right spot, but he does have time to correct his mistake. It won’t likely come this week with the Irish off, but they’ll have more chances to change his mind as the season starts its final stretch.
