Danny Green wants to sit down and watch film with Matisse Thybulle

Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green wants to help Matisse Thybulle on the offensive end of the floor.

The Philadelphia 76ers have a terrific team as they sit at the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference led by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons as their franchise cornerstones. They also have a solid group of players who know their role and they have to play that role to its fullest.

For Matisse Thybulle, his role is to continue to provide that excellent defense out on the perimeter to help the team shut down the opposition’s best scorer. However, the team also wants some more offense out of him and that is what he has been doing since the All-Star break.

Since the All-Star break, Thybulle is shooting 47.8% from the floor overall. He is also shooting 35.8% from deep, and he has a 57.6% true shooting percentage since the break. That is up from 36.8%, 26.2%, and 45.9%, respectively, before the All-Star break.

“His confidence is growing and I think he can grow even more,” said veteran Danny Green. “I’ve offered to talk and he’s a kid that wants to learn. That’s what I love about Matisse. I told him I would love to sit down and watch some film with him.”

Green is a proven 3-and-D player in this league as he is a guy who has earned his stripes on both ends and he can teach the second-year guard out of Washington plenty of things out on the floor and give him some tips.

“Not defensive clips because he’s great at that he knows what he’s doing, obviously there’s some things that I’d probably talk to him. He knows where his mistakes are,” Green explained. “Offensively, even though he’s growing and his confidence has gotten much higher, I still think there’s places where he can be more aggressive for himself and for our team which will help us a ton and help him a ton. I think he’ll grow into a really great player.”

Thybulle has been working on changing his offensive mindset in order to help the team flow better on the offensive end of the floor. Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris get double-teamed often so it is up to the other guys on the floor with them to be able to play off of them and make the game easier and Green can help with that.

“Once he changes his mindset on the offensive end of the floor and just change a couple of little things,” Green finished. “We gotta simplify some things for him, and the rest of the team. Especially, making it easier for Joel and Tobias when those guys get doubled, mostly Joel. We have Matisse in the right areas where he can attack and be aggressive and make it easy for him to get easy baskets.”

The Sixers will take on the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at home.
