The Kansas City Chiefs made an interesting personnel choice in their Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills.
The offensive line depth had already been called into question after the team lost Kelechi Osemele to dual knee injuries. Now they’ve replaced another starter along the offensive line and this time the decision appears to be voluntary.
The team chose to start veteran free-agent acquisition, Daniel Kilgore, at center over Austin Reiter in Week 6. Reiter, who has been the starter for Kansas City, has 21 starts over the past two seasons. Kilgore was signed late in training camp and he ultimately didn’t get much practice until the regular season started. He started a total of 17 games at center for the Miami Dolphins from the 2018-2019 seasons.
Reiter hasn’t been one of the problems for the Chiefs this season, surrendering the fewest pressures (2) along the offensive line. He has been listed on the injury report with an ankle injury and given the wet conditions, it’s possible this decision was made with his injury in mind. It is a questionable decision to be made in wet conditions. Watch the center-quarterback exchange throughout the course of the night.
This marks the third different starting lineup the Chiefs have used in just six games this season. It’s clear they’re still trying to find the best players to have on the field at the same time.
