Daniel Jones (finally) got his first primetime win after failing so often in night games

Daniel Jones is finally a winner in primetime.

Wins aren’t a quarterback stat. Not a real one anyway. More often than not, if a quarterback’s record is bad, so is the rest of the team.

That’s certainly been the case with Daniel Jones and the New York Giants over the last four years since they drafted him sixth overall in 2019. He hasn’t been great, but neither have the Giants.

That said, Jones’ 0-9 career record in primetime entering Sunday night’s important game against the Washington Commanders was still an ugly blemish on his resume. No other quarterback over the last 20 years had as many games in primetime without a win.

That changed Sunday night.

In a game the Giants had to have to give themselves a realistic shot at securing their first playoff berth since 2016, and as a 4.5-point road dog, New York defeated the Commanders 20-12. Jones passed for 160 yards without a score, but he made his share of big plays to contribute to the win and didn’t do anything to get in the way.

With the win, he improved to 1-9 in primetime and the Giants snapped an 11-game primetime losing streak.
