The Daniel Jones tripping-over-his-own-feet moment continues to be played everywhere on Friday morning after the New York Giants quarterback had a chance to score with not one Philadelphia Eagle in front of him Thursday night … but the turf monster got him.
His teammates laughed. Twitter turned it into memes and so so so many jokes.
And as for Jones? He had an explanation for exactly what happened: he says he was trying to run faster, which is kind of amazing because he actually runs really, really fast.
Here’s the quote from Jones after the awful Giants loss to the Eagles, via Newsday:
“I was just trying to run faster than I was running and got caught up,” Jones demurred. He hit 21.23 miles per hour on the dash, according to the broadcast, which is the fastest speed registered by a quarterback this season.
Jones and the rest of the team were able to laugh that off only after Gallman leaped into the end zone to give the Giants a 14-10 lead four plays after the flop.
“That was a relief,” Jones said.
I mean, seriously. He was so fast. Did he need to go faster? Guess so.
