Daniel Jeremiah’s final mock draft has Cardinals going with tackle

The pick is Jedrick Wills, not a receiver or top defensive player.

If you have followed the rumors and mock drafts and what they mean for the Arizona Cardinals, it has been a whirlwind of information. However, in NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s final mock draft, he has the Cardinals going in perhaps the least exciting direction.

They don’t pick up one of the best defensive players in the draft. They don’t land a big-time wide receiver. They take a tackle.

With the eighth pick in the draft, he has the Cardinals selecting Alabama tackle Jedrick Wills.

I know they need help on defense, but the Cardinals can’t run the offense they want to run until they get better up front.

Wills should immediately make the offensive line better. He is good enough that he could start as a rookie, even with a potentially shortened offseason. Some believe he is capable of playing left tackle, although he has never played the position. Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said Wills can also play guard, which is also a position he hasn’t played.

Wills would fill an immediate need and give Kyler Murray the protection he needs. If they get the development from their young receivers, it isn’t a bad way to go.
