D’Andre Swift questionable for Week 7 but ‘looking pretty good’ per head coach Dan Campbell

Lions running back D’Andre Swift came through the bye week in better shape than before the break, but the talented starting RB is still officially questionable for Sunday’s game in Dallas.

RB coach and assistant head coach Duce Staley was asked several questions about No. 32 in Honolulu blue.

“Good. Last couple of days been out there working, been looking pretty good,” Staley said of Swift.

The talented but oft-injured Swift has missed the last three games with both a shoulder injury and a sprained ankle, a wound Swift said he suffered in the first half of the Week 1 loss to the Eagles. Swift has been working hard to get back on the field, practicing on a limited basis in advance of Week 7.

Staley also offered this on Swift,

“Yeah, just taking it one day at a time. That’s where we are now with him and each day he has made progress. So, I will say that. And every day we’ll continue to check, the doctors and everything will continue to check and I talk with him. So, he’s making progress and once we get to that point, that’s something that Ben (Johnson) and myself make sure that we’re on top is balancing those guys out and we will.”

Head coach Dan Campbell had a similar sentiment on Swift’s potential to play,

“We’ll see, but he’s done a little bit more every day, and see how he is and where he’s at today, and then we’ll take it from there.”

Expect to still see a lot of Jamaal Williams at RB for the Lions in Dallas. Williams has run well as the feature back, rushing for 251 yards on 54 carries and scoring four touchdowns in the three games without Swift.
