Set to make his long-awaited return Jan. 18 at UFC 246, McGregor wants a fight with “BMF” titleholder [autotag]Jorge Masvidal[/autotag]. This, according to UFC president Dana White.

White previously has made McGregor’s wish to get a fight with Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 12-6 UFC) known. However, in a recent interview with ESPN, the White also indicated McGregor (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is interested in Masvidal’s “BMF” title.

“Conor wants that belt from Masvidal,” White said.

Since the idea of a “BMF” title was conceived, White had always said the championship was a one-off between Masvidal and Nate Diaz, who fought to claim it last November at UFC 244. White, however, could be changing his tune.

When asked if he was interested in having the prospective matchup between Masvidal and McGregor be for the “BMF” title, White didn’t completely rule it out.

“I don’t know,” White said. “I did it as a one-off. It was fun, it was awesome. We’ll see what happens.”

UFC 246 takes place Jan. 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+.
