Florida coach Dan Mullen has done wonders for the Gators’ program since being hired in December 2017. He has a 23-6 record and won New Year’s Six Bowls in his first two seasons.

But now in Year 3, he has perhaps his best team yet, which leans heavily on a record-setting offense led by redshirt senior quarterback Kyle Trask. The 5-1 Gators beat Georgia for the first time since 2016 on Nov. 7, and now UF is poised to win the SEC East for the first time since 2016.

Mullen has brought Florida back from mediocrity to national title contention, and it’s no surprise that the nation is taking notice. He was named to the watch list for the Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award along with 11 other coaches.

He’s one of four SEC coaches on the watch list, joining Auburn‘s Gus Malzahn, Alabama‘s Nick Saban and Georgia‘s Kirby Smart.
