One of the more exciting aspects about Dan Lanning’s new spot as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks is the pipeline that he brings with him from the deep south up to Eugene. Lanning is considered one of the best recruiters in the nation, and his place up in the Pacific Northwest might offer a route for some of the most talented players in the nation to consider joining him with the Oregon Ducks.
A perfect example of this happened in the last few days, with reports emerging that both 4-star RB Jordan James and 4-star DL Christen Miller were in Eugene for official visits with the Ducks.
Miller, who is the No. 2 ranked unsigned DL left in the nation, posted on his social media that he was in Oregon taking a look around the Ducks’ campus.

It’s been believed for a couple of weeks that Miller was going to commit to the Bulldogs, but his visit to Oregon could give the Ducks an upper hand, with the unrivaled facilities giving Lanning and his crew a chance to wow the highly-rated recruit.
James is another interesting recruit since he would be a massive flip for the Ducks if they could get it done. As a Georgia commit who decided not to sign in the early period, James’ decision to take a visit to Oregon shows that he may not be completely sold on the Bulldogs, and might be willing to relocate across the country in the Pacific Northwest.
After the early signing period passed and James didn’t sign, he said that he was still “solid on Georgia” and planned to sign with them in February. However, we’ve heard that story before, particularly with 4-star Oregon commit Tetairoa McMillan, who said he was all in on the Ducks after Mario Cristobal left, and then flipped to Arizona soon after.
As the No. 16 RB in the nation, and No. 188 player overall, flipping James would be massive for the Ducks. Heck, even getting him to visit Eugene is a big win already.
