Dan Campbell began Lions training camp by hilariously doing up-downs with his players

Never change, Dan Campbell. Never change.

By now, we understand Dan Campbell isn’t your typical football head coach. Every now and then, he’s going to dispense a terrific one-liner, and he’s a little more hands-on than other sideline leaders.

We saw an example of this again as the Detroit Lions started training camp. This year, of course, the Lions are being hyped up as the NFC North favorite and a legitimate playoff contender. But even with the wind at Detroit’s back, Campbell seemingly isn’t changing much of his approach.

He’s still going to bring the same passion for the game to the table, and he’s still going to do up-downs with his players under the bright Allen Park sun.

Campbell hasn’t even qualified for the playoffs as a head coach yet, but you can tell he’s got the Lions on the right track. This is a team stacked at some of the most critical positions, with depth galore. And this hilarious shtick Campbell’s got running for him is anything but a shtick.

It’s who he is, and it appears to work well for the rising Lions.
