Damian Lillard is Jordan-esque when it comes to responding to insults

Put some respect on his name, as he said.

The GIFs and memes were everywhere after Damian Lillard put together yet another unreal performance in the bubble with a 61-point effort in a win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Many of them were from The Last Dance, comparing the Portland Trail Blazers guard to Michael Jordan, who took every slight personally and used it as fuel on the court to torch opponents.

Lillard was caught on camera apparently yelling “Put some respect on my (expletive) name!” as the game that put the Blazers into the No. 8 seed in the West ended. And that could be about anyone from the past week, a reminder to the world that maybe talking negatively about Dame would end with him proving they’re wrong.

Could he be aiming it at Clippers star Paul George, who told Lillard “You getting sent home this year” on Instagram? How about George’s teammate Patrick Beverley, who trolled him after two missed free-throws late in the loss to Los Angeles on Saturday?

By the way, it’s worth mentioning here that since he missed those free throws, he’s gone 15-of-16 in his 51-point performance against the 76ers and 18-of-18 on Tuesday night.

He could be screaming at Skip Bayless after their back-and-forth … and even Skip had to give Lillard some respect after what he saw:

This extends to Twitter, where he very publicly responded to criticism from ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky in May:

And if you want to come at him and successful rap career, he’s going to come right back. Just ask Shaquille O’Neal and Marvin Bagley III

If you’re an upcoming Lillard opponent, maybe it’s a good idea to avoid any insults. Or not — what he’s doing is unreal, and we want more.
