The Brooklyn Nets have been trying to make the best moves they can this offseason since they want to compete for a championship sometime in the near future. Unfortunately for Brooklyn, they will not be able to have the services of a player who could help greatly in that title endeavor.
According to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian, sources have told him that Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard has no interest in playing for the Nets despite Brooklyn being able to offer a stronger package than the team that Lillard wants to go, the Miami Heat. While multiple reports recently have said that Lillard prefers to play for the Heat, it looks like he has made a stand in terms of what he will do if he is traded to a team other than Miami.
Per Mark Medina of Sportsnaut.com, if Lillard were to be traded to the Nets, he would not report to training camp. This shows that Lillard will do what he can to get to the Heat at the expense of lowering the quality of what Portland gets in return as part of the process.
It remains to be seen if Brooklyn could get involved to be the third team in a Lillard to possibly get someone like Miami’s Tyler Herro.
