Damarious Randall signs with the Raiders

Free agent safety Damarious Randall signs with the Raiders after two up-and-down seasons with the Cleveland Browns

Damarious Randall has found a new place to call home. The Browns starting safety for the last two seasons has reached a deal to join the Las Vegas Raiders, per numerous reports.

Randall will take a one-year deal with Jon Gruden’s Raiders, effectively completing a swap for Karl Joseph, who will take over Randall’s old starting role in Cleveland. The 27-year-old spent two years with the Browns after being acquired in a trade for QB DeShone Kizer from the Green Bay Packers.

The 2018 season was very good. Randall switched back to his natural safety spot and thrived with the Browns. Alas, the strong play did not persist into 2019. Randall was less assertive and not around the ball as often in the new-look defense, and his pursuit and tackling angles were the subject of frequent fan–and media–scorn. He also battled injuries and an ejection for a helmet-to-helmet hit.
