Being a first-round pick has its privileges.
Among them? Getting to pick your new number before the rest of the draft class, evidently.
In the first round of the 2023 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills traded up two spots and selected Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid. Prior to the start of Day 2 of the draft, the team already announced that Kincaid is going to stick with the same number he wore in college, No. 86.
Last season, the Bills did not have a player to wear the number. The last was Reggie Gilliam… who is actually still on the team. He just happened to change his number to 41.
