Five-star prospect Daishen Nix will reportedly decommit from UCLA to play professionally in the NBA G League, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Nix will join fellow five-star prospects Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd to play on a newly created development team that will be separate from the 29 other teams in the G League. Nix will reportedly make upward of $300,000 next season on the G League Select Team.

The G League announced on April 16 its plans to launch a new developmental team as an alternative path for elite prospects wanting to play professionally. Green and Todd were the first two players to commit to the revamped program.

Under the structure of the new program, prospects will be placed on a team filled with veteran players and experienced coaches to provide mentorship throughout the season. Former NBA Coach of the Year Sam Mitchell will reportedly serve as the head coach of the Select Team.

Nix is the No. 1 rated point guard in the country and is a projected first-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has been credited with having elite court vision and has been compared to the likes of Jason Kidd and Lonzo Ball in that regard.

Nix is projected to be the 18th pick in the latest 2021 Rookie Wire NBA Mock Draft.
