The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team will need to find reinforcements this offseason after learning of two players that will be leaving via the transfer portal.
Brian Howell of BuffZone reported on Friday that Ally Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-2 freshman forward, and Lizzie Holder, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard, have thrown their names into the transfer portal. Both were part of the 2022 recruiting class.
It is understandable as Colorado will return most of its core next season with Tayanna Jones being the only starting senior set to leave. The other question mark is Jaylyn Sherrod, who has a fifth year available due to the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season.
As Howell points out, CU already has five incoming freshmen for next season’s class, so open scholarship spots will probably be filled through the transfer portal. With the news of Colorado native Lauren Betts hitting the portal, could we see the former No. 1 overall recruit return home?
Colorado WBB freshmen Ally Fitzgerald and Lizzie Holder are in the transfer portal and will look for opportunities elsewhere. Both battled some injuries this past season and played a combined 37 minutes. #cubuffs
