The Cowboys have signed an experienced wide receiver with Pro Bowl pelts on the wall.
But it’s not Odell Beckham Jr.
Dallas announced the signing of 10-year veteran T.Y. Hilton on Monday. Hilton is a former third-round draft pick who played for the Indianapolis Colts for ten seasons, has been named to four Pro Bowls, and led the league in receiving yards in 2016.
While he’s been a free agent watching from home for the 2022 season, the Miami native is healthy, ready to step in and start playing immediately. That’s an important note following last week’s OBJ sweepstakes, as the Cowboys have made no bones about expecting any late-season add to help them on the field before the regular season is over.

CeeDee Lamb is currently the team’s undisputed WR1, ranking in the league’s top 10 in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Michael Gallup has played well since returning from injury, Noah Brown leads the team in yards per reception, and veteran James Washington made his Dallas debut during Sunday’s game against Houston.
Hilton, who turned 33 years old in November, started the 2021 season on injured reserve due to a disc issue in his neck. After a five-game absence, he returned and suffered a quad injury in Week 6, costing him one game. He then suffered a concussion in Week 8 and missed a single outing while in protocol.
For what it’s worth, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after Sunday’s 27-23 win over the Texans that the team has not moved on from the prospect of also adding Beckham.
“Not at all, with a big exclamation,” he told reporters.
But the team is already looking to Hilton to help punctuate a double-digit-win season.
