Cowboys recover Chris Godwin fumble in end zone to thwart Buccaneers

A Chris Godwin fumble in the end zone was recovered by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth quarter

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers were methodically chewing up yardage and clock in the fourth quarter Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys.

With a 28-26 lead at Raymond James Stadium, it seemed like Tom Brady and his offense were heading to the end zone to make it a two-score game in the NFL season opener.

Brady connected with Chris Godwin and the talented wide receiver headed for the end zone. Helmet found football, though, and Godwin fumbled.

The Dallas Cowboys’ Jourdan Lewis picked up the football and returned it out of the end zone 10 yards to avoid disaster with about five minutes left.
