Week 1 of the NFL season was not kind to the New York Giants. They hosted the Dallas Cowboys and were slaughtered, 40-0. The game contained many mistakes made by the Giants which were capitalized on by the Cowboys.
Given how the last several weeks have gone for the Giants, it’s easy to understand why the media and analysts are predicting a huge Cowboys win. Heck, even Giants fans assume this is going to be a wicked defeat.
But Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker Micah Parsons aren’t overlooking the struggling Giants.
“Never overlook an opponent,” said Micah Parsons on Thursday. “We see where that got us this year. We’re staying grounded coming off of a rough loss. This game [now] has a lot more importance to it, and it’s a divisional game.”
Prescott agrees.
“We’re definitely mature enough to understand the NFL,” he said. “We understand that those guys prepare and gameplan and, to be honest, it’s tough to beat a team twice.”
There’s a reason the movie Any Given Sunday is titled as such. Any team can win on any given day given the right circumstances.
That remains the same this week, despite the overwhelming number of obstacles faced by the Giants. The Cowboys recognize this and are preparing for it.
The question remains: Will the Giants’ resilience show its face to at least make the game competitive, or will the players lay another egg?
