Cowboys cupboard not bare at WR behind Cooper, Gallup

Randall Cobb is gone and wasn’t replaced, but does that mean the Cowboys must use a Top-60 pick on a wideout?

Tony Pollard

We recently wrote about Pollard’s prospects for a fruitful 2020 from the lens of how McCarthy has used his backup running backs in his previous stops. There’s another consideration though, Pollard (6-foot-0, 200 pounds) has tremendous ability to play as a slot receiver and run actual routes.

It was a major aspect while in college at Memphis.

The Cowboys barely utilized this skillset in Pollard’s rookie season. He lined up in the backfield 169 times and as a slot or wideout just 30 snaps. But after getting his feet wet as a rookie, there’s no doubt the slippery-but-well-balanced speedster could take on a bigger role in a quest to get him onto the field at the same time as Ezekiel Elliott.
