Could Titans move Jamal Adams to linebacker in 2024?

There are a few reasons to believe that the Titans could utilize Jamal Adams at linebacker in 2024.

The Tennessee Titans inked safety Jamal Adams to a one-year deal, but could the team have plans to move him to linebacker?

This isn’t a question I would’ve asked before seeing a segment on NFL Network in which insider Ian Rapoport wondered aloud about Tennessee moving Adams to linebacker in 2024.

“I was actually a little curious about where they signed him to play,” Rapoport said. “Is he going to move to linebacker? Is he going to be a safety? He is a strong safety (and) the hope for them is that he lends some of the veteran leadership on the back end, as well.”

Adding more fuel to the fire that a change to linebacker could be in the cards for Adams is a report from April that stated the Seattle Seahawks were considering bringing Adams back to play weakside linebacker.

When asked about what his exact role will be during his appearance on the Official Titans Podcast, Adams said he wasn’t sure.

“I don’t know that yet,” Adams admitted. “I don’t know that yet, but I’m excited to learn my role. For me, I just want to come in and earn the respect of my teammates.”

Of course, given the fact that he has been a safety his entire career, the most likely scenario has him staying there in Nashville and being the starter next to Amani Hooker.

However, Adams moving to linebacker isn’t exactly crazy. After all, he’s at his best when playing in the box and already has many of the traits of a linebacker. Adding to that, the Titans aren’t exactly strong at the position, even at their starting spots.

There is definitely a scenario where Adams could see at least some time at linebacker in 2024, but for now we project him to start at safety.
