When it comes to the issues on the Chicago Bears’ offense, you can’t pinpoint just one. Which is part of the reason why it feels like it’s impossible to fix things just past the halfway mark of the season.
But one of the issues that has plagued the Bears this season — and for the last couple of years — has been Matt Nagy’s play calling, which has lacked creativity and has been predictable at times.
While Nagy appeared to have the entire NFL on its heels in 2018, the not-so-distant past where he won Coach of the Year, the league quickly caught on to Nagy. But he’s failed to make the necessary adjustments, and he feels like he’s lost a step in the creativity department. When the offense looks worse in Year 3 than it did in Year 1, there’s a problem.
But, as we know, these issues are nothing new. This was the same thing that was happening last season when Chicago’s offense was, once again, one of the worst in the NFL. Nagy was asked repeatedly about giving up play-calling, and he’d write it off each time. After all, it’s not his fault, right?
As history continues to repeat itself, the same cries are sounding in press conferences yet again. On Monday, Nagy was once again asked about giving up play-calling. And while he didn’t exactly give a definitive answer, it did sound like it might be something he’s considering.
When asked about giving up playcalling, Matt Nagy once again said he's looking at everything. Said that if there is a change, we won't be informed (for competitive reasons). Sounds like that might actually be on the table this week. #Bears

‘‘I’m looking at all that right now,’’ Nagy told reporters Monday. ‘‘When we’re where we’re at right now as an offense and struggling the way we are, you have to be able to look at everything — including myself. So we’ll see where that goes.’’
If there was going to be a change at play caller, Nagy said that it wouldn’t be something that he’d announce.
‘‘So that’s where that’s at,’’ he said. ‘‘I think you can understand that part.’’
Actually, I don’t think we understand that part. Almost as much as we don’t understand why the change hasn’t been made yet considering the offense has gotten worse with each passing week in this three-game losing streak.
