Could the Browns actually trade up to pick No. 1?

Is a move UP the board a possibility?

The Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and it is already causing chaos in Northeast Ohio.

There have already been conflicting reports about what the Browns intend to do between taking a quarterback and potentially trading down, and now there is some buzz about potentially trading up one slot and securing the No. 1 overall pick.

Justin Melo of The Draft Network thinks a move up the board could be in the cards for the Browns as they look to secure the top quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft. Here is what Melo had to say:

“Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles injury and reportedly experienced a setback in his recovery earlier this week. That only increases Cleveland’s already pressing need to draft a quarterback. Trade-ups from No. 2 are fairly rare, but if the Browns want to secure their specific target, they may need to ensure another QB-needy team doesn’t leapfrog them.”

Ultimately, a trade down and punting on a rookie quarterback while bridging with a veteran may be the best path forward for the Browns to add future draft assets and give their books one year to heal. However, it is only January and there is still plenty of time between now and the start of the draft.

Anything could happen.
