Could Raiders DE Clelin Ferrell be a fit with the Cardinals after J.J. Watt’s injury?

The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday and one player that has been mentioned in trade talks for the Raiders is Clelin Ferrell. After a big decrease in playing time, Ferrell could be on the move after falling out of the rotation in Las Vegas.

But what teams might be interested in Ferrell and what could the Raiders expect to get in return? In a recent article by the Touchdown Wire, they suggested that Ferrell could be a potential target for the Cardinals.

Just this week, Arizona lost J.J. Watt due to a shoulder injury and he will miss the rest of the season. Sitting at 7-1, Ferrell could be just the type of player the Cardinals need to fill the void left by Watt.

Here is what the site had to say about the former No. 4 pick and his trade value:

“Despite his fourth-overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft, Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Clelin Ferrell has seen his playing time diminish over the past few weeks. Ferrell has played just 95 defensive snaps this year, well behind Yannick Ngakoue, Maxx Crosby and Carl Nassib.

With the injury to J.J. Watt, the Arizona Cardinals might be looking for help on the defensive front. Ferrell is certainly not the presence that Watt is on the defensive line, but he could offer help as a rotational option for the Cardinals as they look to stay atop the NFC West standings. Despite the limited playing time this season, there are still flashes of potential on film.”

Ferrell has always been a strong run defender and his size allows him to play multiple positions. With the Cardinals needing more depth on the defensive line, this is a trade that would make a lot of sense for both parties.

If Ferrell is moved by the trade deadline, look for the Raiders to get back a conditional Day 3 pick that could increase in value depending on playing time.
