Could four-star Caden Brown be deciding this week?

Caden Brown talks about why he is set to wrap-up his recruitment sometime this week.

Caden Brown released his final four on Saturday, with a possible decision possibly coming sometime this month and perhaps as early as this week. It was a final four from Brown that included Rutgers football in the mix.

A four-star defensive lineman, Brown is a consensus top five recruit in New York in the 2024 recruiting class. He is a 6-foot-3 defensive lineman from Erasmus Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who announced on Saturday that he is down to Michigan State, Rutgers, Penn State and Maryland in his college recruitment.

Programs such as Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Washington and West Virginia did not make Brown’s final cutdown.

Brown showed very well this offseason in camps and combines.

“I decided to name a top four because the recruiting process has been a lot,” Brown told Rutgers Wire.

“I just want to focus on my books and the weight room and prepare for my senior season. I plan on announcing my commitment soon.”

Relationships are important to Brown. Rutgers, due to its proximity to New York City, is the program that Brown has visited the most. This has afforded the Scarlet Knights and head coach Greg Schiano a chance to connect with Brown.

“Coach Schiano has been recruiting me since I was in seventh grade. He knows me well,” Brown said.

“I’m confident that he can lead Rutgers. I’m excited to see how far Rutgers can go especially with all the Erasmus Hall players that are there now.”

Another program that made the final four for Brown is Penn State. One of the key relationships there for Brown is Deion Barnes, who spent the previous three seasons as a graduate assistant at Penn State.

In March, Barnes was promoted to defensive line coach.

“Penn State has a great program and I love their defense. I have been getting to know the defensive line coach, Deion Barnes,” Brown said.

“I can see myself playing at Penn State. It will definitely be a tough decision.”
