Could ex-Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce be part of WrestleMania 40?

The popular and recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center would be a natural fit for WrestleMania 40.

WrestleMania has a long history of involvement from celebrities and athletes from other sports that goes back to the very beginning of its 40-year history. So it’s perhaps only fitting that one of the favorite sons of the Philadelphia Eagles — one who is adjacent to the most famous woman in the entertainment world — could have a role at WrestleMania 40 this weekend in the City of Brotherly Love.

The man in question is Jason Kelce, the stalwart center who recently retired from the NFL after 13 years anchoring the Eagles offensive line at an All-Pro (and very likely Hall of Fame) level. Not only is Kelce super famous in Philly, he plied his trade at Lincoln Financial Field, the site of WrestleMania 40.

Beyond that, he’s an athlete that’s tailor made for WWE. Kelce has a larger than life personality and hosts a popular podcast with his brother Travis, an All-Pro tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

(And unless you haven’t watched the NFL or been on social media for at least the last year, you already know that Travis dates Taylor Swift.)

In short, Jason Kelce checks off all the boxes for a potential WrestleMania guest celebrity, which means it should come as no surprise that Fightful Select (subscription required) reports that WWE has “reached out” to him about making an appearance.

Fightful Select has learned that WWE reached out to recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce for a possible WrestleMania appearance. Kelce is a huge star in the sports world in general, but especially in Philadelphia and doubly so at Lincoln Financial Field, where he’s played for the last decade.

What would Jason Kelce do at WrestleMania 40?

It’s not clear exactly what role Jason Kelce would play, though past versions of WrestleMania have used celebrities in roles ranging from host to timekeeper.

He’s a physically big dude (ex-offensive lineman, to reiterate) and so would not look out of place if scripted for some minor physicality. It’s not hard to imagine the crowd going crazy for Jason Kelce stopping Logan Paul from using his brass knux, for instance.

There’s really no downside to carving out a role of some sort, as the Philadelphia faithful will eat it up regardless. WWE social media, the SmackDown on Friday and “The Pat McAfee Show” are good places to watch to see if Jason Kelce’s involvement on either night of WrestleMania 40 eventually ends up getting confirmed.
