MVP chants for White in Game 2 were not only extraordinary but given how well the Colorado native played, entirely warranted that evening.

Usually, chants for a Boston Celtics player to win the 2023 Most Valuable Player award have been for star forward Jayson Tatum. During a few outings, a chant popped up for teammate Jaylen Brown.

But MVP chants for veteran Celtics guard Derrick White in Game 2 of the Celtics’ first-round Eastern Conference playoffs series against the Atlanta Hawks were not only extraordinary but given how well the Colorado native was playing, entirely warranted, that evening. Though White downplayed his excellence in the postseason for Boston, he has been an absolute tornado on both ends for the Celtics.

Could Derrick White become the Celtics MVP for this playoff run?
