Could COVID protocols, vaccine stance make Cole Beasley retire?

Buffalo Bills WR Cole Beasley on COVID-19 protocols, vaccination.

Cole Beasley did not slow down his social media comments regarding COVID-19 and the vaccination on Friday.

One day after taking to his account on Twitter to call the NFLPA “a joke” after agreeing to loosened protocols for players that receive a COVID-19 vaccine, Beasley has now released a “public service announcement.” In that, Beasley appears to hint that he’d consider retirement if COVID-19 protocols and rules for NFL players are not to his liking.

After starting his message explaining that he is opposed to being vaccinated and currently has not taken one, Beasley writes:”I’ll play for free this year to live life how I’ve lived it from day one. If I’m forced into retirement, so be it.”

Here is Beasley’s message in full:

On Thursday, Beasley first took to social media and wrote a series of messages criticizing the players’ union for reportedly agreeing to new protocols relating to the virus. Among those was a stark difference in safety measures for players that are vaccinated versus those who are not.

Some examples include no daily testing for vaccinated players and no masks in team facilities. Those who do not have the vaccine have to do both, among other differences for both sides. Depending on how things go for the NFL as the offseason continues, it appears the Bills might be in the market for a new slot wide receiver in 2021.
