There is a continually growing belief that Cooper DeJean is cemented as a first-round NFL draft pick. The Iowa Hawkeyes‘ star cornerback and return man is trending in the second half of the first round in mock drafts.
That isn’t a bad spot to be either. That means DeJean likely finds himself on a team that is on the cusp of contending or is ready to go win now. In CBS Sports’ newest mock draft, they send Cooper DeJean to a mix of both.
They have DeJean landing with the Houston Texans with the No. 23 pick.

The Texans are undeniably on the rise. This past year saw them make the NFL playoffs as a surprise team and even win their AFC Super Wild Card game against the Cleveland Browns.
Former Ohio State quarterback and rookie, C.J. Stroud, led the Texans this year. Houston outperformed expectations and seem to be a year or two ahead of schedule.
DeJean would be joining a young defense that features former LSU Tigers standout Derek Stingley Jr. manning one cornerback spot alongside star rookie edge rusher and Alabama alum Will Anderson providing quarterback pressure. The secondary rotation for the Texans also includes another former Hawkeye, Desmond King II.
