Contract incentives revealed for Chargers RB Austin Ekeler

Contract details for Austin Ekeler have been reported.

Austin Ekeler can make an extra $1.75 million in the final year of his contract with the Chargers, and now the details have been reported.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Ekeler can make up to $1 million for total yards, with tiers from 1,125 to 1,639. He can make up to $600K for touchdowns, with tiers from 10 to 16. And he can make $150K for making the Pro Bowl.

Ekeler originally wanted a contract extension with Los Angeles, but there wasn’t any progress, which led to his request to be traded.

Nothing came out of that, so L.A. and Ekeler were able to find common ground by giving him the opportunity to make more money and they were able to hold onto him for at least another season.

Ekeler has been one of the most productive running backs, scoring 38 total touchdowns over his last two seasons. No other player has more than 26 over the span.

Ekeler will headline a running back group that consists of Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
