After outside linebacker Harold Landry signed a massive five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Tennessee Titans, we now know the year-by-year breakdown.
According to Over the Cap, Landry will make $5.05 million in the first year of his contract, giving the cash-strapped Titans some much-needed salary cap relief for 2022.
After that, Landry’s contract balloons to $18.8 million in 2023, $21.05 million in 2024, and $21.3 million in the final two years of the deal.
The first feasible opportunity for Tennessee to get out of the contract is in 2024, when Landry’s dead-cap hit would be $11.4 million. In the two years that follow, the Boston College product would account for dead-cap hits of $7.6 million and $3.8 million in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Based on the total value ($87.5 million) and annual average ($17.5 million) of his extension, Landry is Tennessee’s highest-paid outside linebacker, surpassing fellow edge rusher Bud Dupree.
When compared to other edge rushers in the NFL, Landry ranks ninth and tied for ninth in total value and annual average.
