Conditions of Panthers’ haul from Greg Little trade revealed

Oh, goody! Not only is it a seventh-round pick the Panthers are getting, but it’s a conditional one!

After two years of a lifeless marriage, the Carolina Panthers sought to quickly cut ties with offensive tackle Greg Little before they got too deep into the third.

So, with the 2019 second-round draft pick having such minimal value, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they’ll be getting very little for . . . Little. *Ba dum tssss*

Per Tuesday’s transaction wire, the 2022 seventh-round pick the Panthers are receiving from the Miami Dolphins will be a conditional one. The condition entails Carolina taking in the higher of Miami’s two seventh-rounders, one they own from the New England Patriots and the other from the Tennessee Titans.

Seventh-round draft picks are the flimsiest lottery tickets as it in the NFL draft. And assuming New England and Tennessee are their projected competitive selves, this pick will be far, far down the board.

In the end, this wasn’t about getting anything back—let alone anything close to their initial investment for Little. It was about a quick dump-off for a failed experiment on a day the team needed to part with five players.
