Colts sign TE Ross Travis, place TE Eric Ebron on IR

Colts make a move at TE.

The Indianapolis Colts signed tight end Ross Travis to the active roster and placed tight end Eric Ebron on the injured reserve list, the team announced Monday.

It was revealed earlier Monday that Ebron must undergo two ankle procedures—effectively ending his season. The 26-year-old held a big role in the offense as a move tight end even if his numbers weren’t near the career year he had in 2018.

Ebron finished the 2019 season recording 31 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns. As the Colts passing offense has suffered, Ebron’s production fell dramatically.

Travis is a familiar face with the Colts. He signed late during the 2017 season and had a chance to make the roster in 2018 but suffered a torn ACL during the final preseason game.

He competed for a spot on the roster during the 2019 preseason but was released during roster cuts at the beginning of September.
