Colts reportedly waive safety Michael Tutsie as roster cuts take place

The Colts are reportedly waiving safety Michael Tutsie as roster cuts continue to take place.

As the Colts continue to work their way down from 91 players to 53 players, the team has reportedly waived safety Michael Tutsie, according to Joel Erickson of the Indy Star.

Teams must have their initial 53-man rosters set by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 27th.

With Tutsie having three or fewer years of accrued NFL experience, he will first go on waivers. If he goes unclaimed, he will become a free agent and can sign where he pleases.

This preseason, Tutsie–a 2023 UDFA out of North Dakota State–would appear in all three games, playing a total of 33 snaps. According to PFF, 15 of those snaps would come lined up in the box with another 15 taking place from the slot.

Tutsie would make three total tackles in his appearances and allowed one reception on one target for 10 yards. In the finale against Cincinnati, Tutsie recovered a fumble by Bengals’ quarterback Logan Woodside.

Making the Colts’ final roster was always going to be an uphill battle for Tutsie. In August of 2023, Tutsie got injured and was waived by the Colts, missing the remainder of the season.

Perhaps fully healthy, he could be a practice squad candidate for the team in 2024.

The Colts have now reportedly made 13 roster cuts. 25 more remain.
