Colts release S Ibraheim Campbell

Colts released S Ibraheim Campbell on Tuesday.

The Indianapolis Colts released safety Ibraheim Campbell as they work to get the roster down to 53 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, per Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

Campbell has been with the Colts since the start of the 2020 season when he was signed to the practice squad. He went back and forth from the practice squad to the active roster and wound up signing a futures contract with the team in January.

Because Campbell has more than four accrued seasons in the NFL, he isn’t subjected to waivers like most of the roster cuts that have been reported. Campbell is a free agent and allowed to sign with any team right away.

Given that he spent the 2020 season on the practice squad for the Colts, it stands to reason they may want to bring him back to the same role when all the roster moves are set by Tuesday’s deadline.
