Colts’ Gardner Minshew in line to start vs. Ravens

It looks like Gardner Minshew will get the start against the Ravens.

Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson is not practicing Friday due to a concussion, meaning veteran backup Gardner Minshew is in line to start against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.

Richardson failed to log any type of practice throughout the week after being diagnosed with a concussion in the Week 2 win over the Houston Texans.

It isn’t exactly clear how far into the protocol Richardson is, but he’s unlikely to be cleared in time for Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

Minshew stepped in wonderfully for the Colts in Week 2. Playing the final three quarters of the game, Minshew completed 19-of-23 passes for 171 yards, one touchdown and a 112.1 passer rating.

Though Minshew doesn’t offer as high of a ceiling as Richardson does, he is going into his third season working in Shane Steichen’s offense so the unit will be able to put up points.

Whether that will be enough to upset the Ravens on the road remains to be seen, but Minshew will get his first start in a Colts uniform on Sunday.
