The Colts announced they will host a maximum of 2,500 attendees for the team’s Sept. 20 home game against the Vikings.
Indianapolis said the number of attendees was determined after talks with Marion County Public Health Department.
The Colts will have to find a way to limit the tickets and address those who had tickets to this game. The team announced it is “developing a process” in regards to limiting the number of tickets.
Earlier this offseason, the Vikings announced that both of their home games in September will have no fans. Those games are the Vikings’ opener against the Packers on Sept. 13 and the game against the Titans on Sept. 27.
So assuming the Colts’ ruling doesn’t change, the team’s game between the Vikings will mark the first time that Minnesota will play in front of fans in the NFL regular season.
Vikings left the door open for later games to possibly have fans down the road.
“We will continue to work with the appropriate officials on our plans with the hope of bringing fans back in a safe manner later this season,” the Vikings said in a statement.
