Colts activate Sam Ehlinger, waive Jacob Eason in flurry of roster moves

Colts activated QB Sam Ehlinger and waived QB Jacob Eason among a flurry of roster moves.

The Indianapolis Colts activated quarterback Sam Ehlinger from the injured reserve list and waived quarterback Jacob Eason among a flurry of roster moves, the team announced Tuesday.

The team also announced that they placed wide receiver Parris Campbell on the injured reserve list and elevated kicker Michael Badgley from the practice squad to the active roster while waiving defensive tackle Chris Williams.

The Colts had to activate Ehlinger from the injured reserve list this week or else they would have lost him for the rest of the season as this was the end of his 21-day window to be activated.

Eason being waived isn’t all that surprising given that Brett Hundley is firmly ahead of him as the backup to starting quarterback Carson Wentz.

Campbell suffered a significant foot injury during his 51-yard touchdown catch against the Houston Texans in Week 6. There’s potential it is season-ending but it’s too early to tell.

Badgley will be replacing Rodrigo Blankenship for at least the next two games. He did well in his first game, converting his only field-goal attempt from 41 yards and all four of his extra-point attempts against the Texans.

The Colts also placed practice squad safety Jordan Lucas and cornerback Marvell Tell III on the injured reserve list.
