From the northeast to the Rocky Mountains.

After a few big names were bandied about, the Colorado State Rams appear to have settled on their next head coach, with reports emerging that former Boston College coach Steve Addazio will be the man to replace the departed Mike Bobo.

The last 24 hours brought a flurry of developments, with Tony Alford, Kevin Wilson and others being mentioned as possibilities, but Addazio’s previous head coaching experience, as noted by Football Scoop’s Zach Barnett, was presumably perceived as a net positive by Rams AD Joe Parker. The choice is nonetheless a mild surprise, however, given Addazio’s steady but unspectacular tenure at Chestnut Hill.

After leading Temple to a 13-11 record across the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Addazio was brought on at Boston College and had just one losing season in the ACC ranks. The flip side of that, though, is that his Eagles never had more than seven wins in a season, reaching that number five times. Additionally, BC reached the AP Top 25 in just one season, climbing to #17 in 2018, and went 6-6 in the regular season this fall, finishing fourth in the ACC Atlantic division.
