Colorado receives commitment from three-star Jordan Shaw

Jordan Shaw is now the highest-rated commit in Colorado’s 2023 class

Not long after taking his official visit over Homecoming weekend, No. 49 2023 California prospect (247Sports composite) Jordan Shaw announced his commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes on Tuesday.

Shaw has racked up impressive numbers playing both receiver and defensive back at St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy in Downey and was recruited by Colorado cornerbacks coach Rod Chance — Chance had also recruited Shaw when he was at Oregon.

The 6-foot, 170-pound three-star is now the highest-rated recruit out of Colorado’s 17 class of 2023 commits, just ahead of linebacker CJ Turner (per 247Sports). Shaw is also the fourth defensive back — Taylor Starling, Adrian Wilson and Jamari Holliman being the others — and the fifth commit from the state of California.

The Buffs were able to beat out several other Division I teams that had offered Shaw, including Pac-12 foes Arizona, Arizona State, USC, California, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Washington State. But perhaps most importantly, Shaw is Colorado’s first player to commit in the post-Karl Dorrell era.
