Colorado loses offensive lineman to transfer portal

After one season with the Buffs, Kahlil Benson is re-entering the transfer portal

Offensive lineman Kahlil Benson is re-entering the college football transfer portal after one season with the Colorado Buffaloes, 247Sports reported Thursday.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Benson spent his first four college seasons at Indiana before joining the Buffs last winter. In an up-and-down regular season impacted by injury, Benson saw time at right guard, left guard and right tackle across 405 total offensive snaps. He started at right guard in Colorado’s first four games and played in nine total games.

According to CU’s official team stats, Benson allowed two sacks, one quarterback hit and three hurries.

Four other Colorado offensive linemen have entered the transfer portal this offseason: Yakiri Walker, Hank Zilinskas, Tyler Johnson and Payton Kirkland. Benson, Walker, Johnson and Kirkland spent only one season with the Buffs.

Colorado is also looking for a new offensive line coach as Phil Loadholt packed his bags for Mississippi State following one season on head coach Deion Sanders’ staff.
